Raymond Lesniak was born on May 7, 1946. He is a lawyer by profession and works under the Weiner Lesniak Law Firm. Politically speaking, he is an elected senator coming from the American Democratic Party. He is a legislator from the upper area of the State of New Jersey and has served as the state’s senate representative since the year 1989 and has represented the 20th legislative District. Before entering the senate, he has been a part of the General Assembly from 1978 to 1983. In Union County, Senator Lesniak has been considered to be one of the major power broker. He was elected to sit in the Senate after John T. Gregorio has been evicted from office.

Lesniak also headed the New Jersey Clinton campaign against presidential candidate Al Gore and during the 2000 presidential campaign, Senator Lesniak was the key insider for Al Gore’s campaign. He was also the Chairman of the New Jersey Democratic State Committee and served in various national politics in his entire tenure. Presently, he sits as the Chairman of the Economic Growth Committee and as Vice Chair of the Commerce Committee. He is also a part of the Legislative Services Commission and the Legislative Oversight Committee. Senator Lesniak also took a seat in the Judiciary Committee.

After Governor Christie vetoed the bill that the senator has introduced on online gambling, he is set to reintroduce it earlier this week. He has announced that he will be reintroducing the legislation on online betting and gambling which he has authored. The bill was previously vetoed which has generated a $200 million worth of profits from the casino industry including the online betting. The vetoing of the bill has also added tens of million dollars to the treasury of the state and has kept the horse racing industry alive.

Lesniak proposed in the bill which he authored that it was legal under the Federal Law for online betting to have their set of gambling laws for games such as poker and online blackjack. He has used the horse racing industry as the primary reason for the creation of the bill. He has stated that by allowing betting in the interstate, New Jersey will be able to provide accessibility on games online which other states are to capitalize. The reason behind the vetoing of the bill by the Governor is that it has allowed online betting from outside Atlantic City. However, Lesniak has already announced that he has made revisions on the bill that addresses Governor Christie’s concerns. With this, Senator Lesniak has announced the reintroduction of the legislation.
